what is a blog?

Every post needs pictures! So here are a few more shots of my cuties!

After talking to several people about blogging and hearing their thoughts on what is acceptable and what is not. I started asking myself the question: what is OK to blog about?

Well let me start by saying I love blogging because I am not a scrap booker. This is a way to post pics of my family without pretending that I enjoy or am good at scrap booking. I also think it is an excellent way to keep a journal. since starting my blog I have been so much better at keeping a record of my life. When you write in a journal you write about events, thoughts, feelings, accomplishments, disappointments, failures, friends, family, church, funny things etc..... So if my reason for blogging is to have a journal with pictures, then all of these things are acceptable to write about. If people have issues with others viewing these things they should go private. Then everyone wins!

I personally enjoy reading what others consider post worthy. I feel like I have a much better connection with people when I read their blogs and a better understanding to who they are as individuals.

So in conclusion, GO bloggers! Keep up the good work! Write about what makes you happy and don't worry that others will scrutinize your work.

Landan turns 32

It is the big 32 for Landan. Here is a little info about the old stinker
He enjoys a good mountain dew. I don't know a Huff boys who doesn't do the dew

His true loves are his mountain bikes. Yes, bikes plural. As you can see there is evidence of four of them right here. He loves everything about these bikes: a gorgeous ride, fixing them, or just sitting in the garage staring at them. (I actually catch him doing that quite often)

He is a good dad. He plays with his kids regularly. Every Saturday he takes one of them out for a daddy date.

This guy who refuses to look pleasant in a picture also is a hard worker. He tries to allow me to have some free time. In fact, he will have the boys for an entire weekend while I take Addie on a girls weekend in St. George. Bless his heart!! It will be a challenge for sure.

and last but not least, he doesn't mind singing happy birthday to himself as shown in this clip. Happy birthday Landan. I hope you have a superb day!!!

sick kids and frustrated

How is anyone involved in anything when they have young kids? I am involved with a few things mainly Special Olympics and Kindergarten dance. Often when I have to be to one of these events I end up with a sick kid or no baby sitter etc..... Tomorrow is the state Special Olympics bowling and not only could I not find a babysitter but now I have two very sick and gross looking boys. I find myself getting more and more frustrated because I hate disappointing people BUT my kids are and always will be the most important part of my life so I guess as much as enjoy these other activities they will have to sometimes be on the back burner.
So moms out there can you relate? I am sure you can. Share your frustrations with me. Make me feel better about mine.

tag again

Here are the rules: Open the 4th folder on your computer, post the 4th picture, and then offer a brief explanation. Then tag 4 people to do the same! This is a picture of Addie playing in the grass clippings last summer. Kind of creepy I know. Now I tag Jeannette, Harmony,WendyM, and Denise

Pay it forward

I am doing Nikki's pay it forward game. The first three people to leave a comment on my blog will receive a gift from me some time in the near future. The catch is you must do a pay it forward post on your blog to keep the fun going. Remember only the first three will get a gift and it will be good!!

miss payson 2009

Addie and I getting ready for the evening.
Addie wanted Chelsea to win so bad. When Chelsea didn't win, Addie put her head in my lap and cried great big alligator tears. I am not even kidding. She was so sad!! Chelsea did win the service award and most photogenic. But that was not good enough for Addie. She said "Chelsea didn't even get a crown."

This is Addie with last years (2008) miss payson

This years second attendant and Addie's second favorite in the pageant

The real winner, Miss Payson 2009, Becca Batty

oh what a beautiful morning

This morning, we took off in the triple jogger and went to the city center and signed Addie up for t ball. Then we walked to the park. All of my kids had a blast but Peyton was particularly fun to watch. I could tell he had no recollection of parks from last year and everything was brand new to him. He giggled constantly.

Trey is getting more brave. He actually went on the big slide over and over again all by himself.

After a day like this I can't stand the thought of it getting cold again.

day of fun transportation

Trey loves tractors! However, he usually freaks out when he gets close to one. He says "ooh scary" Today, Uncle Bones took him, Maddux and Addie on a tractor ride. Trey looked nervous the whole time. But has been talking about the the tractor obsessively since we got home. I think he is a fan.
Can you tell Trey was a little scared?
Landan took Addie on a scooter ride around the neighborhood. Addie thought that was way awesome.

THE LEPRECHAUN TRAP

Addie came home from school last week with a note suggesting they build a leprechaun trap. It is due tomorrow and we started working on it about 4:00 today. Addie had a lot of fun designing and building her trap. Pictured above: The leprechaun will be lured up the ladder after reading the sign that there is indeed a pot of gold inside...

after climbing the ladder the leprechaun will jump into the pot of gold where the blue item with silver string will wrap around the leprechaun and trap him/her. Addie is pretty sure this will actually work... The joys of kindergarten!!!!

My babies are growing up

No more babies in this house!
Bye-bye High chair. Today, we moved Peyton from the high chair to the booster seat at the Big kid table. He was proud.

I decided if he is old enough to sit at the grow up table he is old enough to start earning his keep (ha ha) Really he is obsessed with the broom. He is constantly sweeping the floor. Even the carpeted rooms. What a helper!!!

In big brother news: We are making very slow progress with the potty training and this picture is proof of progress because this is the first time he willingly sat on the potty. I will take what I can get...

my cute boys

Trey really likes to wear this scarf! It is a good look for him don't you think?
Peyton is obsessed with wearing my shoes. They are not too feminine looking so perfectly normal, perfectly healthy......right?

the fantastic four

Special Olympics does a bowling competition every year that is called unified bowling. Each team consists of two Special Olympic athletes and two non Special Olympians. Judy Skinner, Kristine DeGraffenried, Matthew Grant and I have been a team now for many years. Last year we received the Gold Medal so we got compete at the state meet in SLC. This year we fell just a little short and ended up with the silver. Our team name is the Fantastic Four and we feel fantastic!!!
