flu shots, well baby and I think I am still sane

I like my doctor. He is a nice guy. but two hours is too long for anyone to wait to be seen. To make matters worse, I had all three very delightful children with me. I was making Peyton's 12 month appointment a convenient time to get Trey and Addie's flu shots.

So what did I do during those two hours? I held two screaming boys. One on each knee until Trey clobbered Peyton and I had to try and put Trey in a restraint type timeout. Which meant I had to put Peyton down and then hold Trey so he couldn't escape from my tight grasp. However, he could still kick. So Peyton, who was trying to climb up my leg, was getting kicked in the head by Trey. So then I had to put Trey down and comfort Peyton, which made Trey jealous and round 2.
Meanwhile, Addie kept opening the door and shouting out to the nurses station. "When is the doctor going to get here?"
Peyton is now 25 lbs. 31 inches and 90th percentile in both. He also has a herniated belly button (pictured above) or a second unit as his Uncle Phil calls it.

This is Trey's evil twin. He is the one I see the most. He makes a lot of public appearances these days. But only when I am around. When I leave him with Harmony, Carlene or my mom, he is an angel
Angelic Trey!

Addie has spent the afternoon crying because her shot hurts so bad. She refuses to walk. I am not sure how the shot in her arm affected her legs, but apparently they are no good now.

Anyway, I feel like I deserve a major award!! Erin, when are we doing our first annual momsies awards? I nominate myself !!!!

You are AMAZING!!! I could NEVER take all 3 kids to the doctor by myself. I did take Seth today for his 4 month well check and shots! Poor baby! Anyway, way to go!!!

You do get a mom award! The doctors should really pay for any minute in that waiting room over 20 minutes. I am almost telling my kids to start yelling and crying just to get the doctor/nurses moving a bit faster. Not fun.

Sam also had the umbilical hernia though I just thought it was a big outie for a while there.

hahaha. Thank you for confirming why I can't handle doctor's visits with more than one kid. Coincidentally Noelle got her last/final shot today and knew exactly what was coming and freaked out as well.
Definitely, defintely complain or switch to another doc! That is way too long to be there.
I hope Addie will be able to make it to dance....

What were you thinking? OHMYGOSH. That is a serious feat! I love when people think that a stay at home mom job is "relaxing". And I am totally on board with you. I feel doctors are so arrogant to expect that someone wait longer than 10-15 minutes for them. I may not charge 195 bucks an hour, but my time is just as valuable and in this case, your sanity was more valuable than that. The doctor that learns to schedule appointments at reasonable increments will be popular indeed. Good work. But really.... don't do that to yourself again.

Sounds like you had a blast! So do they need to do anything to the "second unit" or can it be left alone?

nothing needs to be done to the second unit unless it hasn't corrected itself by age 3

wow!! sounds like a fun doctors visit. I know some what how you feel as I too have taken 3 kids to a doctors appointment, and waited for a very long time, but never with one of them throwing a fit. You get the mommy award in my book too-

I'm sure it was awful, but it really made me laugh. I just know I'm going to be in a similar situation someday.
